CLIMATE, LOCATION, CURATIVE FACTORS The spa town Frantiskovy Lazne is the smallest and most contemplative town of the Bohemnian spa triangle. It was officially founded in 1793 under the name Kaiser Franzensdorf (Emperor Francis II\'s village) and in 1803 renamed to Franzensbad. Consequently it became a famous spa. After extensive reconstruction works on most health resorts the town shines today in its former splendor. The different shades of yellow of most of the buildings give Františkovy Lázne a sunny look, no matter what time of the year it is. Its location on the mountainsides of the Fichtelgebirge and the Ore Mountains, the clean air, the quiet atmosphere (most of the traffic goes around the town) and the well kept spa facilities make the town a very popular tourist destination. Because Františkovy Lázne is located close to nature reserves, vast marsh lands and swamps guests can be offered the popular mud treatments. For the Balneo treatments the numerous mineral springs of the town and its natural gas source are used.
